Flew to Luxor early this morning and have a really nice hotel here. 5 star no less for a change, and right next to the Nile River. Our room has a view looking north along the river.
Not a lot of sightseeing today as a free day but elected to walk to the Luxor Museum which was really interesting. Had some fantistic statues and text writings that were reasonably well preserved. This was a forty minute walk each way along the river front from our hotel.
When we got back about 4pm went for a swim and spent time by the pool relaxing. Have had drinks and dinner and now preparing to move on tomorrow to our cruise boat and other organised sightseeing tours.
Luxor is a lot nicer than Cairo and there are heaps of cruise boats coming and going here. Also seems to have a million horse and cabs on the steets here which seem to be used as taxis. They drive your crazy coming along pestering you all the time to have a ride. One guy even leapt out of his cab and followed Neil trying to entice him to have a ride. Needless to say he did not succeed!! The guys with the felucca boats are almost as bad!

Hi Neil & Sandra, great you’re continuing to update the blog.
Karla’s home safely (as you know) and tiding up here this week.
Two years ago Stephen & Kerry (and their respective partners) toured Egypt and Jordan on an Intrepid Tour. They loved all of it (even the dirty streets of Cairo), especially all the history, Pyramids, Valley of the Kings, and tasting the local food.
Have you chilled out with a Shesha yet?
Obviously you've been busy and not able to update the blog. I know you'll be having a good time in Egypt and seeing some amaizing places and artifacts.
ABs v OZ (in Hong Kong) this weekend. Even though we've won the Bledesloe Cup they'll still want to win. Henry picked a few new ABs.
The share market was up again yesterday after a real low late last week.
Election: Labour trying to dig up dirt on Key from his 1987 past in OZ. Thank god there's only another week to go.
