We had a late start this morning and headed off to Deira City Centre Mall and had some lunch before doing a bit of shopping. Headed back to the hotel using the hotel taxi as we would have had to wait an hour in a queue for a taxi.
Met Mark and Anita, and Anita's friend from Prague at Sevilles Bar at the Wafi for drinks with them, and a number of other Hyder people who work with Mark. Then headed off to the Hyatt Hotel to an Indian restaurant for a really lovely meal. another late night as never caught the hotel shuttle back until quarter to one in the morning.
Had a really early start as had to catch hotel shuttle to the airport at 6am. We flew to Cairo from Terminal 3 and Karla headed back to NZ from terminal 1. Terminal 3 is the new Dubai Airport terminal which has only been open a week. Checked in online the night before, got there to find nobody on the bag drop counters so ended up having to check in again.
Also all ATM machines were not working to had a fruitless mission trying to get some cash for Egpyt.
We had a good flight to Cairo with Emirates and were met on arrival by our tour rep who took us through the necessary formalities and then brought us here to our hotel. the driving here in Cairo is absolutley CRAZY!!!!! Nobody indicates and neither do they stay in their lanes - Sandra just shut her eyes and hoped for the best. Arrived safeky however.
After checking in went for a walk along the Nile outside our hotel then spent a very quiet afternoon and evening.

Hey guys! Karla here. I'm safely at home - and you'll be pleased to know that it is freezing. I'll post the top 30 to the blog once I can find my memory stick! Well done on your first solo post!!! K.
Hi Neil and Sandra
Welcome to Egypt . The traffic in Cairo sure is an eyeopener(or closer in Sandras case)Wait till you get out in the rural ares where the standard of roading changes dramatically.
Shirley and I had a good week in Aust. Two nights with Blair in Sydney then down to Melbourne. Saw "Priscilla" in Sydney and "Wicked " in Melbourne. Also went to memorial service for Rob Guest.
Enjoy the last leg of your holiday
Hi Sandra and Neil
Oh yes how well we remember the Cairo traffic - just wait till you have a night trip and they travel without lights!!
Didn't win lotto AGAIN, and your bet didn't come in either Neil, Canty beat Wgtn 7-6.
Dreadful SE gale here today, wrecking my roses, snow on the Pouakais, and mountain is still hiding under cloud, but there will be a good dump there too.
Karla
Pleased you are home safely. Pity about the cold.
Graeme
Nice to hear from you and that your trip to Aussie went well. Holiday is flying by now - have to admit to feeling a little tired but keep going.
Bev
You obviously did not buy the right ticket to get us to Paris!!!
